Permanent Eyebrows

Beautiful Brows, Bespoke to You

Eyebrows have an incredible ability to frame the face, but there is no single brow shape or style that suits everyone.

At Alan Tait Permanent Makeup in Glasgow, every set of brows is individually designed around you — taking into consideration your facial features, natural brow hair, colouring, lifestyle and the look you would like to achieve.

Whether you’re looking to replace sparse or missing brows, improve symmetry or simply enjoy beautifully defined brows every day, we’ll choose the technique and finish that works best for you.

Hairstroke Brows

For a soft, natural and hair-like appearance. Hairstroke brows are created by carefully implanting fine strokes of pigment to imitate the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs.

They can be ideal for clients who want to add definition, fill sparse areas or recreate the appearance of brow hair while maintaining a soft and natural-looking result.

The pattern, direction and colour of the strokes are individually designed to work with your features and any natural brow hair you already have.

Powder Brows

Soft shading with beautifully defined shape.

Powder brows use carefully applied shading to create a fuller, more defined eyebrow.

Despite the name, powder brows don’t have to look heavy or overly made-up. The intensity can be tailored to you, from a very soft powdered effect through to a more polished and defined finish.

They’re a lovely option for clients who enjoy the appearance of softly filled-in brows and would like to recreate that effect without applying brow makeup every day.

Combination Brows

The best of both techniques.

Combination brows bring together hairstrokes and soft powder shading.

Hair-like strokes create softness and texture, while carefully placed shading provides additional fullness and definition.

The balance between the two techniques is completely bespoke and can be adjusted according to your natural brows and the finished look you prefer.

Which Brow Technique Is Right for Me?

You don’t need to decide before you come to see me.

During your consultation, we’ll look at your natural brows, discuss the result you’d like and decide which technique — or combination of techniques — will give you the most suitable result.

Your brow shape will be carefully designed and discussed with you before treatment begins, and your pigment colour will be individually selected to complement your natural colouring.

Lip Blush

Beautifully Enhanced, Naturally You

Lip blush is a permanent makeup treatment designed to enhance the natural beauty of your lips through carefully selected colour and definition. Whether you’d like to restore lost colour, improve the appearance of your lip shape or simply enjoy a subtle wash of colour every day, your treatment is individually designed around you.

Bespoke Lip Colour

Choosing the right colour is one of my favourite parts of creating a lip blush treatment.

Rather than using the same handful of shades on everyone, your colour is selected with your natural lip tone, skin colouring and personal preferences in mind.

The result can range from incredibly subtle and natural to brighter and more defined, depending on the look you love.

Shape & Definition

As we age, or simply through our natural anatomy, the border of the lips can sometimes appear less defined or uneven.

Lip blush can add definition and create the appearance of a more balanced lip shape while still respecting your natural lips.

The aim isn’t to create a completely different mouth, but to enhance what you already have.

What Will My Lips Look Like Afterwards?

Immediately following treatment, the colour will appear stronger and brighter than the eventual result.

As your lips heal, the colour softens considerably before settling into its finished shade.

This healing process is completely normal and is something we’ll discuss fully before your treatment, so you’ll know what to expect.

Cold Sores & Lip Blush

If you have ever experienced cold sores, even if you haven’t had one for a long time, please let me know.

Lip treatments can trigger an outbreak of the cold sore virus in people who carry it, which can affect healing and the finished result.

If you have a history of cold sores, I recommend speaking to your GP or pharmacist before your appointment. They can advise whether antiviral medication is appropriate for you and, if so, which treatment and dosage you should use.

I am unable to prescribe or recommend a particular medication or dosage, so please follow the advice given by your doctor or pharmacist.

If you have an active cold sore around the time of your appointment, your treatment will need to be postponed until the area has completely healed.

PERMANENT MAKEUP AFTERCARE

Looking After Your New Permanent Makeup

Following the correct aftercare is an important part of your permanent makeup treatment.

Your skin needs time to heal, and looking after the treated area carefully will help encourage good healing and pigment retention.

I’ll explain your aftercare fully at your appointment, but you can always refer back to this page during the healing process.

If you’re ever unsure about anything, please get in touch.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

Immediately after your appointment, it’s normal to experience some swelling, redness, bruising or slight oozing around the treated area.

Your brows or lips will also look darker, stronger and more defined than the finished result. Please don’t panic — this is completely normal.

Over the following days, the treated area may begin to flake or lightly scab. At this stage it can sometimes appear as though some of the colour has disappeared.

Again, this is a normal part of healing.

Do not pick, peel or remove any flaking or scabbing. Allow it to come away naturally.

The skin will continue to heal and your colour will gradually settle. Your final healed result cannot be properly assessed immediately after treatment.

Eyebrow Aftercare

During the First 48 Hours

For the remainder of the day following your treatment and the following day, gently dab your eyebrows every hour with a fresh, clean tissue.

This helps to remove excess fluid from the skin and minimise unnecessary scabbing.

Use a separate clean tissue for each brow.

Cleaning the Brows — Morning & Night

For the first 2 days, morning and night only:

  1. Boil the kettle and allow the water to cool.
  2. Dampen two clean cotton wool pads — one for each eyebrow.
  3. Squeeze out as much excess water as possible.
  4. Gently wipe over each eyebrow to remove any residue from the skin.

Do not scrub or rub the treated area.

Lip Blush Aftercare

Following your lip blush treatment, use the aftercare ointment I have provided as directed.

Continue using the ointment until the initial flaking has subsided, which is usually around 5 days.

Please don’t substitute lipstick, lip balm or lip gloss for your aftercare ointment while your lips are initially healing.

Allow any dry or flaky skin to come away naturally — don’t pick or peel your lips.

For the First 7–10 Days

While your permanent makeup is healing, please avoid:

  • Saunas
  • Sunbeds
  • Steam rooms, spas and Jacuzzis
  • Exercise that causes excessive sweating
  • Fake tan over the treated area
  • Swimming and hot tubs
  • Facials
  • Makeup directly over the treated area
  • Creams, cleansers, moisturisers or exfoliating products close to the treated area
  • Soaking or excessively wetting the treated area
  • Touching the area unnecessarily

Please also avoid hot showers or baths that create excessive steam around the treated area.

Additional Lip Blush Aftercare

While your lips are initially healing, please also avoid:

  • Whitening toothpaste
  • Greasy, oily or spicy foods
  • Citrus fruits and citrus juices
  • Excessive wiping or touching of the lips

Be gentle with the area throughout the healing process.

Your Healed Result

Permanent makeup changes considerably between the day of treatment and the final healed result.

The initial colour will soften, and there may be stages during healing when the pigment appears lighter or less even than expected.

Please allow the complete healing process to take place before judging your finished colour.

Your included touch-up appointment allows me to assess how your skin has retained the pigment and perfect your result where necessary.

Eyebrow touch-up: approximately 6 weeks after your first treatment.

Lip blush touch-up: approximately 8 weeks after your first treatment.

Questions During Healing?

If you’re concerned about your permanent makeup or aren’t sure whether something you’re experiencing is part of the normal healing process, please get in touch. I’d always rather you ask than worry.
